Malaysia Staycation : A night at Batu Feringghi, Penang

One of the most Place in Penang is Batu Feringghi, after Georgetown, the larger and old city in Penang that me and my friend used to visit before. The reason why we choose Batu Feringghi as a place to stay for a few days is we just curious about the beach. Because we read review from another blog that the beach in Batu Feringghi is beautiful and not too many people. So we decided to stay there.

Batu Feringghi is not too far from the city, about 45 minutes by car (or grab) and 1 hours and half by Rapid Penang public bus. So, if you want to get a new experience to find a place that can makes you peace, far from the crowd, and also enjoy the nature view, go to the Batu Feringghi.

There is alot of activities that we can do, we can enjoy the beach, enjoy the sunset from different side from my country Indonesia, smell the salty smell from sea water, walk on the edge of the beach and run when waves coming through, and also we can swim.

Unfortunately, me and my friend decided to stayed one night and we dont have a choice to go to somewhere around Batu Feringghi because we were too tired after one week non stop traveling around Malaysia. So we just stayed at hotel and visit to the centre of Batu Feringghi. Only that :(

How to get to Batu Feringghi from Penang International Airport (PIA)

There are alot of way to reach Batu Feringghi. But from my experience, I only found 2 ways to get there. Between using public bus and taxi grab.

1. CITY BUS Rapid Penang

Depends on money that we have, we prefer choose public transportation city bus rapid penang, the famous city bus in Penang, and because its the cheapest and easiest one.

First, we get wrong because we searched by google maps, it took RM 1.40 from Penang Airport to the Batu Feringghi. But the driver said, it tooks almost RM 5 because Batu Feringghi is the last destination, means its far from Airport. And the journey costs are calculated based on the distance kilometer.

Taking a bus in Penang is a bit different from other cities in Malaysia, especially Kuala Lumpur. In Penang, we pay it manually, we mention our destination, then the bus driver will input our destination on the screen tab and then will mention the cost that we have to pay. The money that we pay-must be the right money. Because the driver will not give change. The money we pay will also be put in the box. And the bus driver will give receipt as proof.

The total time journey from Penang International Airport to our Hotel in Batu Feringghi is about 2 hours. Not a short time, but its okay, we enjoyed the trip because we both can saw the atmosphere of the city of Penang.

2. Taxi atau Grab
This is the second way and also the easiest way. There are alot of taxi in Airpot that you can choose and use. But Grab Taxi is the easisest way. You can just order it from the application either from IOS or playstore, type "from and to" the place that you want to go, and we can even know the range of the price. The driver will pick you up in the place that you want.

Make sure you have a malaysia number or internet data or wifi, because the application need some data to connect.

Batu Feringghi Bus Stop

The location of the hotel right behind the bus stop, Batu Feringghi. So it was pretty easy when I get there with Rapid Penang  Public bus.

2 - Miami Beach
After dealing with registration, paying tax, and carrying our heavy belonging, we decided to go to the beach that we saw for the first time when we get down from the bus. And curious about the sunset.

Lucky us because we have a private access to the beach. There is bridge connected from our hotel to the beach that we can use.

The beach right infront of our hotel, named Miami beach, the cleanest beach Ive ever visited so far. And I was surprise because there is not only beach with white sand and blue water, but alot of big and large rocks in beautiful shape covered the edge of the beach. Reminds me of a beach in Belitung,-Indonesia, which I never have visited and one of my travel bucket list someday.

We planned to visited Batu Feringghi Beach before (the other beach in Batu Feringghi), but due to our time limited, we decided to stay around our hotel untill we starve.
And in the night we decided to get there 😂

The reason why I love this beach because not too many people here. So yeah we can do everything that we want. We jump like a happy child seeing beach for the first time. We run and pretending like the wave trying to catch. And we can sleep on the white sand till the sunset come.

We got the beautiful sunset with pink-dark-blue combined color.
The day after we finish our breakfast in the next day, we visited miami beach, again. And the view in the morning is more beautiful than the view that I used to come in evening. The water of the sea is more clear and blue. I see blackbird everywhere stayed at the top of the big rocks with others raven. Its beautiful.

How to get there :
From others place in Penang, take the Public bus rapid penang with number 102, and get down in Batu Feringghi stop. And the Miami beach or Miami Cafe is right behind the bus stop, Batu Feringghi.

Fyi, the operational time public bus in Penang untill 11 PM.

3 - Batu Feringghi Night Market
We were thinking about staying in a hotel room and sleeping after playing on the beach. But we were starving. So we decided to took a grab taxi and went to Batu Night Market which is a central place in Batu Feringghi.

In Batu Feringghi there are a lot of foreign tourists and lots of 5-star luxury hotels with beach views and restaurant with a good price. We can even find malls, subways, McDonald's, and Starbucks.

Along the road in the Batu Feringghi area there are many shops called Batu Feringghi Night Market. For those who want to find souvenirs, Night market in Batu Feringghi is really complete even they sell souvenirs from other countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and other Asean countries.

Due to our savings, we just take alook and buy nothing. Hehehehe

And back to the our place where we went to eat dinner. We took a random place named bora-bora cafe and bar. Because we have no choice. There were alot of restaurant and cafe.

Bora Bora Cafe and Bar
We were surprised that the location of the cafe is on the edge of Batu Feringghi beach. Unfortunately, we came in the night and dark of course, so it didn't feel anything except the wind of the sea which were pretty fast. And makes us choose to eat inside the cafe.

For the food, it's not too special. Because our purpose is just eat and then go back to the hotel. And we made it fast. The price was also not too expensive.
We were curious about the famous beer from Malaysia named Tiger beer but we ended up ordered sprite soft drink hahahaha

*******
Finally I made this blog in english version for the first time so you can read it (not only for indonesian). And excuse my english since my main language not in english. Hehehe but i'll try my best for you guys.

Yeah, Unfortunately we only spent one night. So there is no time to explore Batu Feringghi further. Even though there are lots of lists that we will do, including grilled fish culinary which is recommended. And also come to Hard rock cafe, the famous cafe in there with live music.

Hopefully next time I will go back to Penang and explore it further.

Happy holidays to all of you guys....

Thankyou,

Xoxo

Ayunda.
